We are proud that all of our magnetic products are made in the USA and have been awarded The American Sleep Research Institute’s coveted Seal of Approval for superior sleep and postural benefits, as well as high durability and comfort. Each of our Magnetic Mattress Pads are carefully assembled by hand by master craftsmen who have been making luxury bedding products for decades. Our factory in Lincoln, Nebraska has a 46-year history of crafting mattresses and bedding products and maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
I first wanted to build natural beds and bedding products back in the early 1970s, when we began building waterbeds. I liked that the foundation of the entire bed—water—was natural. Of course that was during a time that the environmental movement was just beginning, with the first Earth Day in the spring of 1970. Back then, people never asked us about chemicals used in the beds. However, even though water was a natural element, many of the other components in our beds were synthetic. Forty-six years ago we lacked the materials to make an affordable bed from all-natural and certified materials. Plus back then we were just beginning sleep research; we knew water was a great surface to sleep on, but we had yet to build our first sleep lab. Throughout the seventies and into the eighties we continued to listen to our customers and improve our bedding products.
Back in 1986, a customer first asked me about how the components in our waterbeds interacted with her breathing. That got me thinking: “There must be a way to build a truly all-natural bed, without the synthetic chemicals.” I still didn’t have access to the materials, but two years later we established our own sleep lab and really began monitoring the human process of sleep.
Around 1995 we finally completed our first natural bed. The arrival of natural latex made that possible. Plus by then we’d completed nearly a decade of sleep research on a variety of different surfaces. Making that first all-natural mattress was exciting but it just wasn’t quite good enough to put our name on it yet. Years ago my brother and I made a pact never to go to market with a second-rate product. So we didn’t. Instead, we began what turned into a years-long search for trusted vendors to supply us with all the materials we’d need for an all-natural bed.
At first I was discouraged—so many vendors tried to pass off their products as natural that really weren’t. But we soon learned to ask many questions and buy materials in small quantities. We started testing materials under our simulated “stress-tests” in the sleep lab, and gathering data from our sleep participants. We knew that latex had been successfully used in beds way back in the 50s, so there was a commercial precedent in the US. But sixty-five years ago the latex was synthetic, not natural. So in a way we were going back to basics, but with better, all-natural materials. From 1995 to 2000 we continued our search for the right blend of natural latex, coupled with the best balance of firmness and support.
In the spring of 2000 we released a prototype in which every component of the mattress was 100% natural, and we were almost ready to go to market. However, my experience has taught me that whenever I’m too much in love with any product, it’s best to take a time-out and test it in the field. It was good that we did, because there were still some flaws in the quilted cover that needed to be worked out. About this time Visco material, air mattresses, and adjustable beds were all very popular. It’s not accurate to say our company lost interest in our pursuit of the world’s best natural bed, but we certainly were sidetracked. Plus, in 2001 we received our 25th patent for mattresses, and I found myself at a point in my life where I actually wondered if I had done all I could to make the night a better place to be.
It was just about this time that my son was born and at age 50, I was a first-time dad. I took a couple weeks off work, and when I came back I felt more productive than I had in years. While the time spent with the baby was different than any vacation I’d ever had, I was now more committed than ever to building bedding products that wouldn’t harm the environment he would spend his life in. Funny how a fresh life can kick-start some old dreams. I was ready to work on my passion again: building a better sleep experience. I recommitted myself to building all-natural bedding products and after months of hard work our team fixed every shortcoming we were experiencing in manufacturing. We tested these all-natural products with employees, customers, and sleep research subjects until finally all the feedback was positive. At last our natural beds were ready to launch.
Our first customers just loved it. They appreciated the natural feel, they liked the way the products adjusted to their bodies and because they were all-natural, they rested better knowing they weren’t breathing in harmful toxins. At first I thought, “Hey, let’s wait and continue testing for another year or so. Let’s see if I we can perfect these products even more.” But customers kept telling their friends, and I knew it was time to launch these products for everyone to buy.
So we started spreading the word about our new natural line of beds and bedding products. From there we started adding magnets to several of our products as we learned about their all-natural benefits. So now, decades after we built our first water bed, we’re still working at what we do best: designing, testing and finally building the best sleep solutions for our customers.
Because at the end of the day—which is the beginning of the night—our job is to help people sleep better. Today, we feel we are doing a great job, but we can never completely rest easy until everyone’s sleep is peaceful.
BETTER CIRCULATION & OXYGENATION = BETTER HEALTH
Every awestruck child who has seen two iron magnets mysteriously attracted to each other knows there is a movement between them. In your body, it is the iron in your red blood cells that enables you to breathe and without this 75% iron content in your hemoglobin you would suffocate. Iron has a tremendous affinity for oxygen and in nature, we call this “rust.” When your breath reaches your lungs, eight atoms of oxygen couple with one iron atom to ride throughout the circulatory pathways. As these oxygen-rich iron atoms reach the cells, they load and unload oxygen, resulting in life-sustaining cellular oxidation. This process not only gives you mobilizing energy but also helps your body defeat inflammation, infection.
The average body contains 10 pints of blood and when active (jogging, dancing, swimming, etc.) does a complete circulation of the entire blood supply within 15 seconds at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. This is where you get the energy source for your body’s electricity! The rapid blood circulation in your body produces 25 watts of electricity. Your brain produces as much energy as a 25 watt light bulb, enabling you to send electric messages down your spine, sparking your heart to beat and energizing your bodily functions. As you reach age 50, your circulation starts to slow down, lowering your electrical output and causing “Senior Moments,” slower heart beats, and colder hands and feet. However, if you sleep on our patented sleep system which includes Super Magnets (12,000 Gauss strength), your body will receive all the benefits of magnetic energy.
